Insulated Roller Shutter Door
The existing insulated roller shutter door on this opening had a faulty motor. It was also stuck in the open position. The door was between steel frames and very tight. Pipes and other obstructions prevented the barrel and curtain from being removed.
Question: How could you replace the faulty shutter when removing it is impossible?
Answer: We isolated the door from power and secured the open curtain in place so it could not come down. We then installed the new door just below it.

This door also consists of a personnel entrance, commonly known as a Wicket Gate. Wicket Gates allow personnel to pass through the opening without opening the shutter every time.
A safety interlock switch is essential when opting for a wicket gate. An interlock prevents the door from operating if the wicket gate is still in place. For more information on wicket gates, click here.
The wicket gate also acts as an Emergency Exit, with a single panic bar on the inside. A locking access handle is on the external side.
Question: Why have a wicket gate installed within the shutter? Why not opt for a personnel door?
Answer: There is not always wall space for a personnel door. As you can see from the photos, it is wall-to-wall racking and equipment. Therefore, a Wicket Gate is the only option available in this instance.
Above the new door, you can see a fascia panel in place to hide the old door. This insulated roller shutter is face-fixed and consists of Supalaths finished in Ocean Blue plastisol. For further information on insulated doors, you can click through to our insulated door page.
